This pair of carved wooden wall sconces are made from oak parts probably from an ornate piece of furniture such as a Victorian sideboard or bureau. Originally their function was to support a shelf or overhanging upper cupboard whilst also being decorative. Given a new function as wall lights their decoration is as appreciated today as when they were made. The old dark varnish was removed to reveal the beauty of the natural oak and give them a more contemporary appeal while beeswax added a lustre and brought out their true colour. In keeping with their size small bayonet lampholders have been fitted. PAT tested.
