From 1910-1960's inexpensive postal rates and the chore of washing clothes before the advent of domestic washing machines made posting laundry an attractive option for some people. This pressed cardboard laundry box with it's bright and bold advertising on the top appears to date from the latter end of this period. It has the address label holder to one end, reinforced corners and the remains of a woven strap on the back. It's both an attractive decorative item and a useful storage container having a very clean interior.
